CHARTER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM Thank you for your interest in our Charter Management Program. The following is a thumbnail sketch of what we are all about…. St. Petersburg Yacht Charters & Sales was started in 1973 and is one of the oldest fleets in the United States. We manage boats for charter and maintain private boats in our marina. The requirements for a vessel entering our fleet vary somewhat as we try to remain flexible. We don't require that you buy a new boat from us. Your boat can be a trawler, mono hull sailboat, or a catamaran. It can be new or used. Charterers of course like newer boats, so we will have some age limitations on the boat you own or are looking to purchase. Because of our flexibility, the only way to present charter information is a discussion with Page Obenshain. But on to what we can offer you. There are some distinct advantages to placing your boat into our charter fleet: We are dealers for Catalina Yachts & can deal with most any manufacturer. We have experienced yacht brokers to locate that perfect boat for you. You don’t have to pay sales tax on the purchase or the maintenance of your boat. You can deduct your dockage, maintenance payments and insurance on the boat from your taxes. You may depreciate your investment over five years. You can earn enough charter income to pay for your dockage, maintenance, insurance and more... When you use your boat it will be clean and everything will be in working order. We will accept boats you already own.
INFORMATION Thank you for your inquiry about chartering one of our yachts. We have been in the charter business since 1973, and operate one of the longest established fleets in the Southeastern United States. Our location is easily reached by scheduled flights to Tampa International Airport and/or interstate highway. The cruising sailor may choose between the protected and scenic Intercoastal Waterway or the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way there are many fine marinas and restaurants to suit every taste or an abundance of safe and quiet anchorages, whichever you desire. Our yachts are equipped with all the cruising necessities. Please see the listing of boats for a sample. We have complete inventories and specification sheets for each boat upon request. You will need supplies for your cruise.... weather gear, hats, suntan lotion, food, paper goods, ice, etc.... we can supply you with many of these items at our Ship's Store. As for the provisions, there are several good supermarkets located conveniently near our location. When you arrive at the boat, it will be topped off with fuel and ready to go. At the end of the charter you will replace the fuel used.
